My career in defending human rights began early in life, as a volunteer with the Montenegrin Helsinki Committee for Human Rights. As a youth group coordinator, I organized Human Rights Schools for young people across the Balkan region, nurturing awareness and action among the next generation. This formative experience inspired me to pursue a degree in law, where I was later hired by the OSCE as a trial monitor while still a student.

My first exposure to criminal cases began in a courtroom, sitting among the public and observing a seemingly small but significant detail: whether the accused was brought before the judge in handcuffs. It was only years later that I fully grasped the deeper implications of such procedural details and their impact on human dignity and the fairness of the judicial process.

Today, I am a practicing criminal defense lawyer in Montenegro, representing clients in both domestic courts and before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. My areas of expertise include human rights law and international cooperation in criminal matters.

The rapid digitalization of all aspects of life has profoundly influenced criminal proceedings. Increasingly, cases rely on electronic evidence and materials obtained transnationally from encrypted applications, adding layers of complexity to defense strategies. These cases demand close collaboration among lawyers from different jurisdictions, a challenge I embrace daily.

In an era of widespread misinformation, having access to accurate and reliable information is of paramount importance. Working with my colleagues in the Joint Defense Team has not only enhanced my knowledge and skills but also equipped me to handle these intricate, cross-border cases with confidence. Together, we provide a unified and informed defense for our clients across the globe.
